Making a set
- Tap New set and describe a theme, e.g. "matte clay, soft shadows, coral accents".
- Pick the app slots you want icons for.
- Optionally add a reference photo, then tap Start generation.
- Review the previews and accept the icons you want to keep. Only accepted icons go into exports.
The Clay Pastel and Neon Grid sample sets are there to try things out. Edit or ignore them as you like.
Voice & photos
Speak theme does nothing
Allow both Microphone and Speech Recognition in iOS Settings → Iconsmith. Dictation listens in US English. If it says recognition is unavailable, check your connection or type the theme instead.
The camera option is missing
Some devices and the simulator have no camera. Use the photo picker to import a moodboard still instead.
Is my reference photo uploaded?
No. It's only used on your iPhone to shape the corner style of the set. See the Privacy Policy.
Using the coach
Open the coach bar on a set and ask for slot ideas or a theme tweak. It might suggest slots such as "Mail, Music, Settings". Tap confirm to apply them, then Generate.
The coach asks for consent again
The coach sends your message to DeepSeek, so it needs AI data sharing to be on. Turn it on in the consent sheet or under Settings → AI data sharing.
The coach shows an error
Check your internet connection and try again. If the coach can't be reached, you can still create sets, render icons on the device and export them.
Export & Shortcuts
Export Pack builds a ZIP with your accepted PNGs and iconsmith-manifest.json, which lists each app label and its file. Save it to Files, then use each PNG as the icon in Shortcuts → Open App → Add to Home Screen.
Save Icons to Photos puts the accepted icons straight into your library. It needs "Add Photos Only" permission.
Export button is missing
Accept at least one icon in the set first. Only accepted icons are exported.
Troubleshooting
- Saving to Photos failed: iOS Settings → Iconsmith → Photos → "Add Photos Only".
- An icon looks off: make the theme more specific, or ask the coach to refine it, then generate again.
- The app seems stuck: force-quit it and reopen. Your sets are saved on the device.
Your data
Iconsmith has no account and no server copy of your sets. To remove everything, delete the app. To stop sending anything to the coach provider, switch off Settings → AI data sharing. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
