Iconsmith Terms of Use

The ground rules for shaping, coaching and exporting your icon sets.

Effective 2 November 2026

Iconsmith is free and has no accounts or subscriptions. You write a theme, add app slots, optionally ask the coach for ideas, then export a pack of PNG icons for Shortcuts. These terms cover that whole process.

Agreeing to these terms

By downloading or using Iconsmith you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Where these terms say nothing on a point, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

Your licence to the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Iconsmith on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Usage Rules. You may not copy, resell, decompile or modify the app, or take out the renderer, built-in styles or sample sets (Clay Pastel, Neon Grid) to redistribute them separately.

Your themes & icons

Your theme briefs, slot labels, reference photos and the icons you accept belong to you, as far as the law allows. You can use exported icons on your own home screen, in your own Shortcuts and in your own projects. You are responsible for having the right to use any reference photo you add.

Because your sets stay on your device, keep your own backups. Deleting the app removes them.

Other apps' names & logos

Slots are named after the apps you want to re-skin, such as Mail, Music or Safari. Iconsmith draws its own artwork for each slot and doesn't include any third-party logos. Those app names and their trademarks belong to their owners, and Iconsmith isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them. Don't use Iconsmith to make icons that imitate another company's logo in a way that misleads people, and don't sell or publish icon packs that use other companies' trademarks.

Coach suggestions

The coach is optional. It only works after you allow AI data sharing, and its replies come from DeepSeek's language model. Its suggestions can be wrong, odd or not to your taste. Nothing changes in a set until you confirm a suggestion. Don't send the coach personal, confidential or unlawful content, and don't use it to try to get harmful output.

Fair use

  • Don't use Iconsmith to create content that infringes someone else's rights or is unlawful, hateful or sexually explicit.
  • Don't try to extract, reuse or overload the services the app connects to, or get around the consent switch.
  • Don't interfere with the app's security or present your exports as official artwork from another brand.

Apple & other services

Speech-to-text, the camera, the photo picker, the photo library, the share sheet and Shortcuts are provided by Apple under Apple's terms. Coach replies come from DeepSeek under DeepSeek's terms. We aren't responsible for those services or for any app you share your exports to.

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Iconsmith or its support, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of any purchase price (Iconsmith is free). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

No warranty

Iconsmith is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that the coach will be available all the time, that every icon will look the way you pictured, or that exports will work with every Shortcuts setup or iOS version. You still have any rights that consumer law in your country gives you and that can't be waived.

Limits of liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost sets, icons or exports. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is zero. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes, ending & contact

We may update these terms as the app changes, and the effective date above will show when. If you keep using Iconsmith after an update, you accept the new terms. You can stop at any time by deleting the app. Your licence ends if you break these terms. These terms are governed by the law of the place where you live, unless mandatory law says otherwise.
